Hello world!

A blog to chronicle my education experience. I am beginning my sophomore year of college at the age of 40. I am so excited to finally be pursuing an education after all of these years. It is such a privilege, and other than being a mother, probably the most gratifying experience of my life. I finished my freshman year at Walters State earlier this year with a GPA of 3.875. I hope to be able to maintain that GPA throughout the coming year at Motlow State Community College.

I think the most difficult part of college for me thus far has been choosing a major. I am working towards a degree in Mass Communications, but that is subject to change. You would think that at 40 I would know what I want to be when I grow up, but the truth is that I am not sure. If finances were not a concern I would be content with being a student for life. I would take every class offered, well except maybe calculus.  My plans for this blog are simply to share my journey, and to inspire others to pursue their own dreams of higher learning.

I hope that you enjoy the things that I share here. Please feel free to comment and to share your thoughts, ideas, and dreams.

It is a pleasure to get to know you. I started studying at a very early age, and learned to love that occupation more than all others. It has been my favorite hobby throughout my life. There are a lot of advantages to the academic system. But once you learn the way to study, you don’t really need the framework. That is, after getting the degrees or the accreditation you need, if you enjoy it, you can just keep on studying, and it’s like art for art’s sake. For many years, the library was my second home… and since the development of the internet, it has become even easier… though I still like visiting libraries. Enjoy your adventure!

Thank you. I have always had a life-long love or learning. I was always teaching myself something new. I crave knowledge and would be content studying for the rest of my life.

I went back in my fifties. Graduated Magna Cum Laude and received school honors for a Creative WRiting Project. If I can do it – you can do it.
