Today was Constitution Day at Motlow Community College.
The Two First Amendments
Dr. Donald Cheatham, Professor of History and Political Science.
Tension Between the Religion Clauses
Dr. David Bowlby, Instructor of History and Political Science.
The 4th Amendment in the Age of Terror
Dr. Lucy Craig, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice
Constitution and Compromise
Prof. Scott Cook, Associate Professor of History
Each presented selected interpretations of Constitutional themes. The presentations were all very good, although I have to admit that I was not 100% sure where some of the speakers stood on their issue by the end of the day. I think that would have been more clear had there been more time for questions at the end. . I hesitate to add any discussion about the event because I was not able to take good notes. I would not wish to make assumptions or to misquote. I will simply say that I enjoyed the fact that there were a variety of views presented. I hope that next time they will allow for more discussion afterwards. The next time I attend an event I will take my mini recorder so that will be better able to share more about the event with you.
